Offering diverse landscapes—oceans and lagoons, moorland and forests, sand and rocks—our islands are a little biodiversity heaven. More than 300 species of birds, resident and migratory, enliven the skies of the archipelago. In the ocean, the seals take advantage of the abundance of fish, while dolphins, whales and finbacks patrol between the islands. Finally, on land, the diverse soil types are the source of a diversity of plants, which flower in summer.
