Hiking Trails in Miquelon

Anse aux Soldats

Start at the pebble bank, then head towards the end of the Anse du Gouvernement. We recommend that you follow the road to get to the Fond de l’Anse (the river, rarely dry, is often an obstacle to get to the Fond de l’Anse by the shoreline). The path goes through the summit of Tête Pelée, then crosses a floodplain before beginning a descent through the woods towards a clearing that overlooks the Anse aux Soldats. Follow the same directions in reverse to go back.

Belliveau

Start from the end of the Route de Mirande, then simply follow the coastline. Once you arrive at Anse de Belliveau, return via les Buttes à Sylvain, then les Buttes de Michaux.

Miquelon

Buttes dégarnies

Start at the “Barrière de la mère Durand.” This trail, a loop, passes through the highlands of the Buttes Dégarnies and Presqu’île (Butte des Tauds). To return, go along the shore, passing Pointe Quine.

Cap Corbeau

Start at the Sainte-Thérèse Chapel and go to the Chemin de la Vierge. Walk to the intersection of the path leading to la Belle Rivière, walk along La Belle Rivière and go up towards the top of the cross. To return, take the Chemin de la Butte au Thé and the plain that overlooks the Anse du Gouvernement.

Miquelon

Grand Barachois – Isthmus

Start at the place known as “Travania” on the Langlade Road, then go along the south bank of the Grand Barachois, going by the observatory. Return via the south, near the Ferme de l’Ouest and the marshland of the place known as “La Ferme de Larranaga.”

Miquelon

Pointe Plate

Start at the end of the Scierie parking lot road. Take the path located towards the left, which marks the beginning of the former Pointe Plate Road. Continue on the path in the woods (which is clearly delineated), crossing the Ruisseau de l’Ouest (stream). Go along the first Plaine des Gaules at the foot of the Couline à Franchesse, then, after an s-shaped pathway and a rise, you’ll arrive on the plateau (the second Plaine des Gaules). You can go down towards the ruins of the Couillette Farm (shown in dotted lines on the map); if you do, add an extra hour to your hike. Continue to the path that goes down towards the Pointe-Plate Lighthouse.

The Cape of Miquelon

Start at the viewpoint indicator, go down towards the Étang du Lac, then follow the direction of the Étang de la Roche sign. Then walk towards the la Cormorandière lookout. Here, you have the choice of going towards Nid à l’Aigle (drawn in dotted lines on the map) or l’Anse à la Roche. This itinerary goes towards l’Anse à la Roche. From the la Cormorandière lookout, join the cliff-side path (west side of the island) and follow it until you come to signs where, finally, you go in the direction of the “Village of Miquelon via the Butte aux Berrys.” For the return trip, take the path that goes north of the Étang du Lac, then head towards the village.
